Magna Carta Legal Services Among the First Businesses Authorized to Provide Family Law Services in Ontario

Updated: Apr 6

Family Legal Services Provider in Ontario: Magna Carta Legal Services

Magna Carta Legal Services is part of the first cohort of Family Legal Services Providers authorized in Ontario. This is a meaningful development in how family law services are delivered, and it positions our firm at the forefront of that change.

We have always approached our work with a focus on clarity, efficiency, and practical results. This authorization allows us to extend that same approach into specific areas of family law where clients often need structured, affordable guidance.

What Is a Family Legal Services Provider

The Law Society of Ontario introduced the Family Legal Services Provider designation to allow qualified paralegals to assist with defined family law matters. The purpose is straightforward. To improve access to justice by offering reliable legal support in areas that do not always require full representation by counsel.

This is a limited and regulated scope of practice. It is designed to provide meaningful assistance while maintaining clear professional boundaries.

Within that scope, we assist with:

  • Joint and uncontested divorce applications without corollary relief

  • Motions to change child support based on table amounts

  • Preparation and completion of court forms and supporting documents

  • Guidance on filing, service, and procedural requirements

Why This Matters

Family law can feel overwhelming, particularly when the process is unfamiliar and the outcome carries personal consequences. Many individuals are left trying to navigate the system on their own or relying on incomplete information.

Having a licensed professional involved brings structure to the process. It reduces the risk of procedural errors. It ensures that materials are prepared properly and that each step is taken with purpose. This is not about replacing full legal representation where it is required. It is about providing the right level of support where it is appropriate.

A Practical and Measured Approach

Being part of the first group of authorized providers carries responsibility. There is no long-standing model for this role. The standard is being set through the work being done now.

Our approach remains consistent. We focus on doing the work properly, managing the process carefully, and staying within the scope of what we are licensed to provide. Each file is handled with attention to detail and a clear understanding of how the system operates in practice.

Our Commitment to Clients

Magna Carta Legal Services is known for being steady, direct, and reliable. This authorization allows us to bring that same level of service into family law, within the areas we are permitted to handle.

Clients can expect clear guidance, practical support, and a process that is managed with care from beginning to end.
